Government Documents and Maps Open Again!

It’s been almost six years since the 2004 flood and UH Manoa Library’s Government Documents and Maps (MAGIS) Department is finally open again on the ground floor of Hamilton Library, Room 6. Reference hours are 9:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday; closed Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. You can now walk in to use the federal depository collection and the United Nations collection. Paging of documents has been discontinued. Patron-placed holds and recalls via Hawaii Voyager have been implemented.

It is strongly recommended that appointments be made ahead of time to use the maps from the Map Collection. The new GIS laboratory and classroom is being set up, and they anticipate GIS services to resume by the start of the fall semester. GIS services will continue to be available on an appointment basis.

To get to Government Documents and Maps, please use the open stairwell next to the Hamilton Library circulation counter. Persons with disabilities requiring the use of an elevator can ask staff at any service point for assistance.

For more information, call the department at 956-8230 or send email to govdocs@hawaii.edu or mapcoll@hawaii.edu

Please visit the newly reconstructed reference service area.
